Anxious Afsha

Anxiety

We met on a staircase where I was crying uncontrollably

and here you are

so heavy and present

you have traveled far and wide just to meet me

the air reeks of metal and dirt

Anxiety, you have the power to make me feel

weak

worried

and unsure

but you know deep down, that I will not let you win

You have crossed nations, genders, and races

anything and everything

you do not discriminate

but we will take you down

you whimper

and look like a lost dog

for a second, I stop my war on you

and pull you in close

your embrace fills me with bittersweet love

but then you morph into a dark cloud

And I find it within me to kill you with kindness

although you have left, I think about you often

because as horrible as you were

I found love for myself

because of you

so in the end, I won
