Careful Explorer
Do you ever feel that nudge
Telling you not to be so close to the edge
Because what if you fell in
And no one saw
What would become of you then?
But every once in a while
When no one is looking
And when the air hits just right
You walk along the edge
Quickly and gracefully
Usually, you are never this careful
And aware, on level ground
Then you take a deep breath
And conspire with the mountain air
that reminds you of the fact that
you are always in awe of what’s new
never of what’s already there
so I’m glad that I walked close to the edge
felt my center of gravity shift sometimes
and saw what’s new sometimes
as much as I would love to be lost at sea
I now know that I am the type to need
some land and some peace
Here’s to wandering away cautiously
