Juneteenth

Now, more than ever, I have realized the need to educate myself and others. I started the day by listening to a podcast about the history of Juneteenth and what is happening right now. Listening to these stories reminded me of my privilege. I can do simple tasks, like exercising, without being killed.

What type of world do we live in?

People are being killed for doing mundane, everyday tasks.

We need to wake up and be anti-racist. Donate, protest, petition, have hard conversations with family members and friends... work on making this world a place where black people can thrive.

It does not feel right to share my own poetry. So please, take some time today and read poetry from one of my favorite poets: Langston Hughes. Click here and begin your journey in understanding why black voices matter.
