A Love Letter to India

Motherland

20 years

is all it took.

to find my home away from home.

a place this foreign should not feel so nice

yet, when I breathe in the spices

and feel the smoggy air

it is not disgust that I feel

but recognition

and the people... who shake their heads at my American accent...

know my language, even those words that are left unspoken

it's a strange feeling

even an ocean cannot sever the bond that I feel towards them

I know home is not perfect

the Motherland is dangerous and full of pollutants

but, there are people willing to improve it

and that gives me hope

because it is a land full of promise

Do you have any travel moments that you would like to share? Don't hesitate to connect with me. I love hearing about people's travels!
