The Resilient Year

This year had lots of small

and what I like to call monumental

wins

I found some quiet spots that I could savor all by myself

I snuck a few more glances at my bookshelf

I found that I could stand up for myself

When pushed

and thrown

into doubt

I learned a lot about people, places, and things

I forgave, wept, and did it all over again

I smiled, I laughed

I found the courage to face the next day

And resisted the urge to crash

But when I did crash

Because we all crash

I gave myself time

to feel and

eventually, heal

Thank you,

For such a pivotal year
