You Made Me Feel

You made me feel like I was a mistake

A hiccup of your past

An ink stain on your boringly, clean page

Bleeding through the first page instead of waiting for the next chapter

But make no mistake, I am not some pointless tragedy

that you can file away

I am the wind reimagined

Fire dancing. burning, gasping in the night

I am a wave crashing onto the shore, signaling that you’re home

I am dirt, complicated, and messy but full of abundance

I am full

I am light

I am enough

when i was young, I had scraps for love

But love shouldn’t be scraps

It should be the full heart

all that it wraps its veins around

Call me selfish or heartless

but I have realized it’s better to be starving than to taste what could have been

extremes tend to cling to my bones

And I love to test your every patience

To see if you can handle my storm. and even the fresh, new day

one day

you’ll be sorry

for not seeing me

but it doesn’t matter if you do

because I would rather be out here

overflowing love instead of not pouring enough

into the limitless galaxy that has nothing to do with me and you

And that’s my promise to you
